Apral Smith is the owner and founder of the independent film production company, Love Star Entertainment. Apral is a film producer and an international award-winning screenwriter with more than 19 full feature films in the marketplace. She is also a program officer at Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP). In her more than 13 years at CCP, she has worked on projects in Asia, Africa, North Carolina and Maryland. She has worked on programs about health literacy, family planning, breastfeeding, teen pregnancy prevention and maternal and child health. Apral passionately promotes health and racial equity and community-led, participatory approaches. She leads an anti-racism movement within CCP.
